A sudden halt on my weight loss journey

Well, as many of you know, I was trying to lose weight that I had gained while in nursing school. My goal was to lose 10-30 pounds (30 being  ideal). My first week I dropped 3 pounds! Yay for me! I did Tae bo, several workout videos, Just Dance, and ran on the treadmill. It was great! However, I had an unexpected surprise last Monday. It started with me not feeling well. I got up, just took a pregnancy test on a whim, and to my surprise, it immediately came up as pregnant. My heart started racing, I started to feel even more nauseous. “Ahhh, I’m going to be a mom. What? I’m not ready yet. OMG!”

I have to say, though, that Chris and I were talking about trying to conceive for a while, but weren’t really trying just yet.  I walked in the living room and sat down. Chris was outside walking the dogs. He came in and asked me what was wrong. I must have had the “my life is getting ready to change in a big way and I’m terrified” look on my face. I told him we were having a baby. He didn’t believe me. I’ve joked about that before. By that time, I started to cry (tears of joy) and told him I was telling the truth. He had to go see the test for himself. We hugged, laughed and cried together. This is really happening. Ahhh. So needless to say, I am putting a halt on my weight loss journey. Trust me, I plan on eating healthy and continuing my exercise regime, though. I still plan on doing the 5k Susan G Komen race I do every year. If anyone is interested in joining me, let me know.

By the way, we are due October 3. We couldn’t be anymore happier than we are right now! Coming out of a horrible 2011, and now having this to welcome us into 2012 is such a blessing…thank you Lord! His love endures forever! This is the kind of God we serve!!!
